DENVER - The Philadelphia Phillies took advantage of a snow day in Colorado on Saturday to make a change to their pitching rotation.
The Phillies announced Saturday morning that rookie J.A. Happ would start in place of Pedro Martinez in Game 3 on Sunday.
Happ, a lefty, was drilled in the leg by a line drive off the bat of Seth Smith in Game 2.
The lefthander was called upon for Game 3, after it was postponed a day, in hopes of neutralizing the Colorado Rockies lefty laden lineup, like he did back on August 5. On that day, Happ threw the second complete game of his career - a shutout - and struck out 10 Rockies en route to a 7-0 win.
Officials with Major League Baseball made the announcement Saturday morning as they alerted the media Happ would be available to comment at 4 p.m. Mountain Time.
