DENVER - The Rockies' "Mr. Late Night" will have an opportunity to contribute to the team's offensive attack beginning in the first inning on Monday - a first for his career in the playoffs.

Colorado Rockies manager Jim Tracy made the announcement that left-handed hitting Seth Smith will get the first postseason start of his career in Game 4 against the Philadelphia Phillies and left-handed starting pitcher Cliff Lee.

Smith, who is hitting .500 in his career during the postseason (4-for-8) with a double and two runs batted in, had previously only appeared as a pinch hitter.

Smith earned the nickname "Mr. Late Night" after hitting .330 (38-for-115) in the 7th inning or later throughout the 2009 season. He also tallied 31 of his 55 RBI in 2009 in the 7th inning or later. Smith's .397 career average as a pinch hitter (31-for-78) also played a role in the "Mr. Late Night" moniker.

Tracy announced one other lineup change for Monday's game, flip-flopping catcher Yorvit Torrealba and third baseman Garrett Atkins in the order. The change puts Atkins fifth and Torrealba sixth.

Smith was slotted into the No. 7 spot in the lineup, playing left field. Carlos Gonzalez was shifted over to right field.

Lefty sluggers Brad Hawpe and Ian Stewart, regulars throughout the season, remained out of the starting lineup.

Right-handed flame-thrower Ubaldo Jimenez gets the call on the mound for the Rockies on Monday as they try to keep their season alive and force a Game 5 in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
