DENVER -  Most professional athletes were at one point in their careers successful two-sport stars.

Aaron McConnell was one of these special athletes who excelled in two sports at Pittsburg State University.

One of the sports he turned into a professional career as a football player.

The other sport McConnell won a national championship as a cheerleader for the Gorillas.

A sport that is hard to picture a 6-foot 3-inch, 300 pound football player participating in.

McConnell was part of the Gorillas cheerleading squad that won the Division II national championship in 2001.

Being a national champion is something he is very proud of to this day. However, he does get a lot of ribbing from his fellow Crush teammates.

Despite all of the razzing he gets, he is proud that he knocked down a stereo-typical door that not many football players are brave enough to walk through.

To see McConnell in action as a cheerleader watch the attached video.
