The Golden Fire Department says Wrigley's Chicago Bar, located at 18200 W. Colfax Street in Golden, didn't obtain the proper burning permits to hold a jersey burning event this weekend.
Golden Fire Chief John Bales says the bar would have needed an approved, enclosed incinerating device in order to burn jerseys, in addition to obtaining the proper permits.
"Anytime there's open burning, you need to have the proper permitting," Bales said.
Laurie Easton, a spokeswoman for RideHardTeez, a T-shirt company selling anti-Cutler shirts at the event, says the event will go on, but instead of a jersey burning party, it's now a jersey shredding party. She says she had been assured by the bar owner that the fire department would be on hand.
RideHardTeez says it is still offering a "great prize" to the person who defaces Cutler's jersey the best.
The event takes place on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.
A call to Wrigley's Bar went unanswered. Easton says the bar owner planned to be in Chicago until later in the week.
