DENVER - The City and County of Denver and the Colorado Rapids announced the second Annual Battle of the Badges on Saturday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Not only will the Denver Police be taking on Denver Fire, but prior to Battle of the Badges, the Colorado Rapids compete against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC making for an interesting doubleheader. The Colorado Rapids v. Vancouver Whitecaps FC match begins at 7 p.m. with the charity match following approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Colorado Rapids match.

"This is billed as the Battle of the Badges, but in truth, it's an opportunity for members of the police and fire departments to come together for a great cause," Denver Fire Chief Eric Tade said. "Teams will participate in a fun time and enjoy camaraderie while benefiting the Police Orphans Fund and Friends of the Denver Fire Department organizations."

In 2012, Denver Police lost against Denver Fire sparking a lighthearted rivalry between the teams.

"This annual competition is a spirited way for the Denver Police Department to compete with Denver Firefighters and a great way raise funds and awareness for a good cause," Denver Police Chief Robert White said.

A portion of each ticket sold will benefit two nonprofit organizations: Friends of the Fire Department and the Denver Police Orphan's Fund. The Denver Police Orphan's Fund provides educational financial support to the children of deceased Denver Police Officers. The Friends of the Denver Fire Department supports educational fire safety and prevention programs for the community, and health and wellness programs for firefighters. Tickets are just $25 per person which includes entry to both matches. Tickets can be purchased at here:
