KUSA - Brian Mullan is staying in Colorado for a while as the Colorado Rapids announced Tuesday they re-signed the midfielder to a new contract.
Mullan grew up in Aurora and played at Regis Jesuit High School before going to Creighton. He joined the Rapids in 2010 and help lead the team to the MLS Cup two months later. It was his fifth Cup championship.
"I'm excited to be coming back to the Rapids this season, and for the opportunity to continue playing in my hometown," Mullan said in a new release from the Rapids.
In four seasons with Colorado, Mullan has three goals and 12 assists in 73 games (64 starts). In his 13-year MLS career, Mullan has 232 games (291 starts) with 29 goals and 58 assists.
Mullan has advanced to the playoffs in 12 seasons and won the MLS Cup with Los Angeles (2002), San Jose (2003) and Houston (2006 and '07).
