On Friday, October 19, Halloween characters of all kinds will take over Washington Park and race for the finish line at the 13th Annual Scream Scram 5K Halloween Run/Walk.

Scream Scram is a Denver Halloween tradition, drawing more than 1,500 participants each year. Halloween revelers and serious runners alike come dressed in costume to compete for special prizes and incentives. Racers strut their stuff on the Orange Carpet prior to the race to compete for best costumes in the categories of Best Individual, Best Family, Best Group, Best Child, Best Dog, and Best Scream Team. The top male and female finishers will each take home a free round-trip airline ticket from Southwest Airlines.

A 100M Spooky Sneak for kids kicks off the race at 6:00 p.m. At the finish line, "Trick-or-Treat Street" offers prize drawings, race and costume awards, sponsor goodies, food, music and refreshments. All proceeds benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. Participants can save up to $10 by registering early.

Youth (under 12) - $20 ($25 on race day)
