DENVER (AP) - Vail Resorts Inc. is spiffing up its burgers and programs as part of efforts to boost spending by skiers who may be splurging less in a down economy.
CEO Rob Katz says many visitors to the Broomfield-based company's five resorts spent less on ski school and restaurants during a recession last season.
Resort cafeteria burgers that cost nearly $11 will have more expensive ingredients like organic cheese this season, but the price for customers will stay the same. Resorts also will offer discount cards and value meals for $9.95.
Vail Resorts also plans to make some ski school staff available as expert guides for a cost comparable to that of a group lesson, for guests who want tips but not necessarily a standard ski school lesson.
