BRECKENRIDGE - In a few weeks, the Breckenridge Ski Area will open for the season, and skiers heading to Peak 8 will no doubt notice a big change at the base area.

All summer, construction crews have been busy working on the new "One Ski Hill Place Lodge," a massive 252,000 square foot building. Inside, there will be around 90 condos, two swimming pools, movie rooms and even a bowling alley.

The lodge sits at the base of Peak 8 which used to be a fairly open piece of land. Given its size, Breckenridge spokesperson Kristen Petitt says it will be hard to miss when the skiers arrive opening day in November.

Petitt says the terrain park and the ski runs will still be the same.

"It's just, you'll have a different viewing coming down the top of Peak 8," Petitt said.

You can either wait and rent condos at the lodge or buy. There are still condos available, but they range in price from $600,000 to a little more than $2 million. The lodge will be open by spring.
